A Summer BBQ with a Cause: Fundraising, Twinning, and New Beginnings

Where has the time gone since our Summer BBQ in July.

For those who could make it on the evening thank you and over £150 was raised for Safeline in the Raffle – thank you.

Sadly the weather made the event happen inside but it was non the less fun with Helena from our Twin Town of Saumur giving a short talk on the History of Saumur which is now on our website. Mervyn – the first Chairman of Warwick/Verden Twinning Association gave a very interesting talk on how it was back in the ‘90’s.

Our chefs Rich, Mark, Tony and Pete did an amazing job. Thank you to all who could make it as I know there was a lot going on that night.

As those who were there might remember our President and Mayor Cll. Dave Skinner mentioned that he had been contacted by The Warwickshire Fusiliers to see if we could have a friendship with a Town in Normandy – Hérouville Saint-Clair – just north of Caen. Where the 2nd Battalion Royal Warwickshires Regiment of Fusiliers were in WW2.

Since then The Mayor and myself have had a zoom meeting about this possibility. Their Mayor will hopefully be visiting Warwick in January and I will keep you posted .
